Designed for lovers of the sea and its suggestive atmospheres, this tour by A MOTOBLUES – Motorbiking North East will take you to the notherst tip of the Mediterranean, to a gulf limitated by the shallow sandy seabeads of Grado and Marano’s lagoon system on the western side and by a rocky cliffline (Triestine coastline) dropping into the sea on the eastern side. Departing from Grado and driving through industrial major spots like Monfalcone, one of the most prolific shipyards in Europe, this tour will head towards the Triestine coast-road, getting accross renown sea tourist places like Sistiana e Duino , to end up to the characteristic Barcola, a semi-artificial pier just at the entrance of Triest, which is packed with sea-goers looking for some relief from the heat in summer and it becomes a great destination for panoramic strolls during autumn and winter, which is a remarkable sign of how deep these people are attached to their places, as well as to the sun and the sea. A breathtaking stop will be Miramare, a beautiful cape, where the famous castle with natural marine sanctuary and park are located.
From Miramare you will be taken to Carso, an high-plain just above Triest, which is uncomparable from a natural point of view and whose history dates back to ancient times. It’s a border zone easily accessible, a land which has witnessed the transit of armies and populations during different ages: from the Romans to the Longobards, from the Celts to the Slavics. The latter, after settling down here in the VI century, still represent the majority of the local inhabitants.
The Carso is a natural treasure of an immense climatic variety: the mild sea effects enhanced the development of a typical mediterranean habitat along the Carsic coastline, while the sudden and brisk uplifting of the high-plain formed a climate barrier, which has caused the continental climate of the local habitat, modifying itself over and over again in the mysterious “doline”, real cold air traps, which have typical mountain characteristics.

You will be amazed by the savage beauty of the Triestine coastline and of the Carso in general and you will take great pleasure by your opportunities to ride on interesting offroad stretches, as well as the stop-overs in the particular “osmizze”, humble inns where you can taste home-made meals and the portentous Terrano, an uncomparable round and intense wine, before taking your way back home.
